How the Monster effect works

Big creatures sound low and rough. The preset lowers pitch −9 semitones with a long 60 ms grain (smoother for big downward shifts), adds 60% drive for the growl, boosts the low shelf 8 dB and trims the highs 4 dB.

Tips for a better monster voice

  • Breathe and growl between words; the effect exaggerates every rasp.
  • Turn the mic gain down a touch if the drive crackles.
  • For something more demonic, try the Demon preset; for size, Dragon.
