How the Dark Lord effect works
The film voice was an actor with a naturally deep voice recorded, then processed to sound like it came through a mask. This preset imitates that with a -5 semitone shift, a 4 dB mid scoop, soft drive, a 7 kHz high cut and a short reverb.
Tips for a better darth vader voice
- Speak slowly and leave pauses; delivery sells the effect.
- Add the breathing yourself, close to the mic; the noise gate is off on this preset so breaths come through.
- For more menace, raise Drive to 0.5.
