How the Deep Voice effect works
Deepening a voice means lowering the fundamental frequency, which a delay-line pitch shifter does by reading your recent audio back more slowly than it was written. Because low voices also carry more energy below 200 Hz, the preset adds a low-shelf boost and a slight treble cut.
Tips for a better deep voice
- Leave a little headroom: lower voices look quieter on meters but hit harder on speakers.
- Go down only 3–4 semitones (Male Voice) if you want to stay natural.
- Bigger Grain values (50–70 ms) make large downward shifts smoother.

Why does a deep voice changer sound muddy sometimes?
