How the Anonymous effect works
Recognisable voices are a mix of pitch, timbre and speaking style. The preset changes pitch (-6 semitones) and smears timbre with a 30 Hz ring modulator and light distortion. Audio is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded.
Tips for a better anonymous voice
- Change your wording and pace too; speaking style is often more identifying than pitch.
- Pitch-only disguises can be partially reversed by shifting back; the ring-mod layer makes that much harder.
- Use it for fun and privacy, not to deceive or harass people.

Is my audio uploaded?
No. Voice effects run on your device with the Web Audio API. Only the optional AI features send the text you type.
Can voice disguise be reversed?
A simple pitch shift can be undone approximately. Combining pitch with ring modulation and filtering makes recovery far harder, but no browser effect is a forensic guarantee.
