How the Male Voice effect works
Typical adult speaking pitch is roughly 85–155 Hz for men and 165–255 Hz for women, so moving from one range toward the other takes about four to seven semitones. Pitch alone sounds like a slowed tape, which is why the preset also lifts the 200 Hz low shelf by 4 dB and trims the highs by 2 dB: listeners hear a bigger chest and throat, not just a lower note.
Tips for a better male voice
- Start at −4 and only go to −6 or −7 (Deep Voice) if the result still sounds light.
- Speak a little slower and with less upward inflection; delivery matters as much as pitch.
- If words smear, raise the Grain knob toward 55 ms for smoother low shifts.

Questions
Can a voice changer make a woman sound like a man?
It covers the acoustic part: lower pitch plus more low-frequency resonance. Pace, intonation and word choice do the rest. Practise with headphones and Hear myself on.
What is the difference between Male Voice and Deep Voice?
Male Voice is a moderate −4 semitone shift for a natural result. Deep Voice goes −7 with a bigger bass boost, which reads as a radio or movie voice.
