How this sound is made

Two square-wave notes, B5 then E6, the interval used by many platform games. It is rendered in your browser with the Web Audio API each time, so the file you download is generated on your device.

Play it live on calls

This sound is also a pad on the VoiceFX soundboard, with a hotkey. Route the soundboard into a virtual cable and friends hear it in any server, without anything being uploaded: see the Discord soundboard guide.

Have your own clip? The Discord clip maker trims any audio file to a 5-second MP3 under 512 KB.

Questions

Is this coin sound effect free to use?

Yes. VoiceFX generates the sound from code in your browser, not from a recording, so there is no third-party copyright in it. Use it in videos, streams and Discord servers without attribution.

How do I add the coin sound effect to Discord's soundboard?

Click "Discord-ready MP3", then in Discord open Server Settings → Soundboard → Upload Sound, choose the file, name it and pick an emoji. You need the Create Expressions permission on the server.

Can I play it into a voice chat without uploading it?

Yes. Use the VoiceFX soundboard with a virtual audio cable as your microphone; then the sound plays in any server or call, mixed with your voice.
